About Us

My name is Samantha MacRae and I am a certified Multisensory Language Therapist trained in the Orton-Gillingham method by the Institute for Multisensory Structured Language Education. I am an accredited member of the Australian Dyslexia Association. My training aligns with international guidelines for effective practices for literacy teaching.

My journey with Dyslexia began in 2015 when my Grade 4 daughter Poppy was still reading at a Prep level, despite specialist intervention at school since Grade 1. Her self-esteem was plummeting rapidly as she watched her peers take off with reading while she lagged behind. She is an incredibly switched on and smart kid.

It just didn’t make sense that she couldn’t grasp the process of reading. By chance, I found out about Dyslexia. I had Poppy assessed and I started educating myself about what she needed to learn to read. Over the next five years, we worked hard to help her catch up with her peers. Poppy is now in high school and reading at grade level.

I built this website to help Dyslexic kids and to support their parents. My goal is to share my experiences (the good and the bad) of navigating the education system to help make your journey easier. Please have a look around the site and if you have any questions feel free to get in touch.
